Terms of Use
The short version
- Dart Mage is in early access. Everything in it is free until launch, and nothing is for sale. On launch day, personal games and stats from early access are cleared so everyone starts fresh; your account and your league and tournament results stay.
- After launch, the free account plays leagues and tournaments and scores casual 01, cricket, and Chicago. Dart Mage Plus adds your personal stats, Hal, the training and party games, and a connected board, for $12 a year after 30 days free.
- Plus renews once a year until you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
- Play fair and be decent to people. We keep slurs and the worst words out of names and posts, and you can report anything that slips through.
- Leagues, bars, and tournament directors are responsible for their own events, including any money. Dart Mage never collects, holds, or pays out entry fees, dues, or prizes.
- We work hard to keep your games safe, but the app is provided as is.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Dart Mage ("Dart Mage," "we," "us"). They cover the web app at app.dartmage.com, dartmage.com, and the Dart Mage apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android once they're in the App Store and Google Play. By using Dart Mage, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
Early access
- Dart Mage is in early access: the real app, before its official launch. During early access everything in Dart Mage, Plus included, is free, and nothing is for sale.
- Things may change, move, or break more often than they will after launch. Tell us what goes wrong at [email protected].
- On launch day, the casual, practice, Hal, and party games saved before launch, and the personal stats worked out from them, are cleared from your account and your phone so everyone starts fresh. Your account, player number, friends, saved players, and the results of leagues and tournaments played in early access stay.
- From launch day on, the free account and Dart Mage Plus work as section 3 describes, and your 30 free days of Plus start that day.
2. Who can use Dart Mage
- Anyone can play without an account.
- You must be 13 or older to make an account. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- One account per person. You sign in with codes sent to your email, so keep your email account secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your Dart Mage account.
3. The free account and Dart Mage Plus (from launch)
Free
Every account can play and score 301, 501, 701, cricket in every mode, and Chicago, and play in leagues and tournaments. League and tournament play is always free for players, and your league and tournament stats are always yours to see.
Dart Mage Plus
- What it adds: your personal stats and history, Hal (our practice bot), the training games, the party games, and connecting a dartboard such as a Granboard.
- Price: $12 a year in the US, billed once a year, plus any sales tax. The price shown in the App Store or Google Play when you subscribe is the price you pay.
- The free trial: new subscribers get the first 30 days free. When you start Plus in the App Store or Google Play, the store takes your payment details and charges you when the 30 days end, unless you cancel before then. Accounts at app.dartmage.com get their 30 days of Plus with no card; how to keep Plus after that will be posted here before launch.
- Renewal: Plus renews every year at the then-current price until you cancel. The App Store renews it unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the renewal date; Google Play, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We'll tell you before a price goes up, as the store requires.
- Canceling: cancel in the store where you subscribed: on an iPhone or iPad, Settings, your name, Subscriptions; on Android, the Play Store app, your profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions. Plus keeps working until the end of the year you paid for. After that, your account goes back to the free account: your games and stats stay saved, and your personal stats open again if you subscribe later.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel Plus. The store keeps billing until you cancel it there.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own rules. We can't refund a store purchase ourselves.
- A phone shared at the bar follows the plan of the account signed in on it.
4. Play fair
You agree not to:
- Enter scores you know are false in league or tournament play, or use Dart Mage to cheat in an event.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone, or use slurs or offensive player, team, or league names. Dart Mage refuses the worst words automatically, and we may change or remove a name or post that crosses the line.
- Add people to Dart Mage who haven't agreed to it, or post someone else's private information.
- Break into, overload, or copy Dart Mage, or collect other people's information from it with bots or scrapers.
- Use Dart Mage for anything illegal, including running gambling.
See something that shouldn't be there? Use Report on the announcement, player, or event, or email [email protected]. We read every report.
5. Your games and what you post
Your games, names, announcements, and event listings are yours. You let us store, copy, and show them as needed to run Dart Mage, for example showing a league result to that league or an event listing to people looking for events. When you delete your account, we handle your information as our Privacy Policy describes. League and tournament results stay with those events, under the name the league or tournament entered for you.
6. Stats, skill levels, and results
Stats and skill levels are worked out from the games entered, so they're only as accurate as those entries. League and tournament results are set by the people running the event. If you disagree with a result, take it up with them. They make the call, not Dart Mage.
7. Event listings
- Anyone with an account can post a darts event for others to find. Post only real events you have the right to share, and keep the date, place, and entry accurate.
- Listings are public. Don't put anything in one you don't want the world to see.
- Dart Mage doesn't run, check, or vouch for listed events, and doesn't take their entry fees. Deal with the organizer about the event.
- A listing that several people report is hidden until we look at it, and we may remove any listing that breaks these terms.
8. Organizations: leagues, bars, and tournament directors
If you use Dart Mage to run leagues or events ("organization"), these terms also apply:
- Your events, your rules. You're responsible for your events and your decisions, including rules, results, disputes, handicaps, and eligibility.
- Money. Dart Mage is record-keeping only. It never collects, holds, transfers, or pays out entry fees, dues, prize money, or any other money for your events. You collect and pay out money yourself and are responsible for it, including taxes and any laws on prizes, entry fees, or gaming that apply where your events are held.
- Players you add. Only add players who've agreed to be added, keep their information accurate, and use it only to run your events.
- What you post. You're responsible for your league's announcements and sign-up links.
- Your staff. You decide who on your staff has access and what they can do, and you're responsible for what they do in your host account. A host account always keeps at least one owner, so the only owner can't delete their own Dart Mage account until they hand ownership to someone or delete the host account.
- Plans and billing. Leagues and tournaments pay for Dart Mage on dartmage.com, per team per season for leagues and per player per event for tournaments, and your first season or event is free. Nothing is billed during early access; the order and billing terms will be posted here before the first paid season. These are separate from anything players buy in the app.
9. Other companies' products
Dart Mage can connect to dartboards made by other companies, such as Granboard, and is sold through Apple's App Store and Google Play. Those companies aren't part of Dart Mage and don't endorse it, and their own terms apply to their products. Granboard, Apple, App Store, Google, and Google Play are trademarks of their owners.
10. Dart Mage's app and name
The Dart Mage app, name, logo, and design belong to us or to the people and companies who license them to us. You can use the app as these terms allow, but you can't copy, resell, or rebuild it, or use the Dart Mage name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, without our written OK.
11. Changes, breaks, and ending
- We improve Dart Mage all the time, so features may change. We'll give organizations reasonable notice before removing something they pay for.
- Dart Mage may sometimes be unavailable. The app saves every dart on your device first, so a dropped connection shouldn't lose a game.
- You can stop using Dart Mage and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or Dart Mage at risk. Where it's fair and safe, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
12. No guarantees
Dart Mage is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always work, be error-free, or give exactly the results you expect, and we disclaim implied warranties, such as fitness for a particular purpose.
13. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Dart Mage isn't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost prize money, or disputes over results, entry fees, dues, or payouts. Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
14. If there's a problem
Email us first at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to fix it. If we can't work it out, Colorado law applies, and either of us can bring a claim in small claims court where you live, or in the state or federal courts in Douglas County, Colorado.
Organizations agree to cover Dart Mage's costs from claims that come from their events, their money handling, or players they added without permission.
15. App stores
If you got Dart Mage from Apple's App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and Dart Mage, not Apple or Google. Dart Mage, not Apple or Google, is responsible for the app, its support, and any claims about it, including product liability, legal compliance, and intellectual property claims. Apple and Google have no duty to provide support for the app. If the app doesn't work as these terms promise, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund what you paid for it; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. You confirm you're not in a country under a US embargo and not on a US list of people barred from doing business with US companies. Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms as they relate to the iPhone and iPad app. You also agree to follow the app store's own rules.
16. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Dart Mage after that means you accept the new terms.
