Privacy Policy
The short version
- You can play every game without an account, and then nothing leaves your phone.
- With an account, we keep your games and stats so you can see them on any device. We don't sell your personal information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- Leagues and tournaments you join see what they need to run their events: your name and your results in their events. They never see your casual games or your friends list.
- Dart Mage never collects or holds entry fees, dues, or prize money, and we never see your card details.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app or by email.
Who we are
Dart Mage ("Dart Mage," "we," "us") is a darts scoring app for steel tip and soft tip players, with tools for the leagues, bars, and tournament directors who run events. This policy covers the web app at app.dartmage.com, this website, and the Dart Mage apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android once they're in the App Store and Google Play.
Questions or requests: [email protected].
Early access
Dart Mage is in early access: the real app, before its official launch. Everything in it is free until launch, and we don't take payments. On launch day, the casual, practice, Hal, and party games saved before launch, and the personal stats worked out from them, are deleted from your account and from your phone, so everyone starts fresh. Your account, name, player number, friends, saved players, and the results of leagues and tournaments played in early access stay. We'll post an updated policy before launch and tell you in the app before it takes effect.
What we collect
When you play without an account
You can play every game without signing up. Your games, players, and settings are saved only on your phone or in your browser. We don't receive them.
Your account
- Your email address. You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you. There's no password to remember.
- Face ID or fingerprint, if you set it up. Your phone keeps your face or fingerprint; we never see it. We keep only a public key (a kind of digital lock your phone can open), the name of the phone it's on, and when it was added and last used.
- Your agreements: that you're 13 or older, which version of our terms and this policy you accepted, and when.
- Your plan: whether you're on the free account, in your free trial, or subscribed to Dart Mage Plus, and when that ends or renews.
Your profile and player number
- Profile: the name you play under and the color of your player circle.
- Player number: every account gets a permanent player number (6 letters and numbers) and a QR code for it. Leagues, tournaments, and friends use it to add you. Someone who types or scans your number sees only your name.
Your darts
- Games: the game and its rules, who played (your saved players, guests by the name typed in, or Hal, our practice bot), the scores, each dart when the app knows it, when the game was played, and who won.
- Saved players: the players you've added on your phone, with their names and colors.
- Stats: averages, checkout percentage, marks per round, practice bests, and your skill level. The app works these out from your games; you don't type them in.
- Guests: if you type a guest's name into a game, that name is saved with that game. Nothing else about a guest is saved.
- A connected dartboard: if you connect a board such as a Granboard over Bluetooth, the app reads the darts it sends. Nothing else.
Friends
- Who you're friends with, friend requests, and anyone you've blocked.
- A short stats card your friends can see: games played, won and lost, and your averages. Never your games themselves.
Leagues and tournaments
- Added by a league or tournament: a league or tournament director may add you to a roster or an event by name before you have an account. When you join, they can link that spot to your account by your player number, a one-time code, or an email invite, and you accept it in your Inbox.
- Event records: teams, rosters, schedules, lineups, results, standings, brackets, board calls, captains' confirmations, reschedule requests and their reasons, and the history of changes made to results (who changed what, when, and why).
- Team sign-ups: when a captain signs up a team through a league's sign-up link, the team's name and the teammates they added (from their friends, by player number, or by a typed name).
- Tournament sign-ups: who signed up for an event, guests a director signed in, the live bracket, the scores players enter on their own phones, and each player's results card.
- Announcements a league posts, with the poster's name.
- Money records: leagues and tournaments can track money in Dart Mage, for example whether your dues are paid. Dart Mage never collects, holds, or moves that money.
- Host accounts: for leagues, bars, and directors, the host account's name, its staff and their roles, and its venues.
Event listings
Anyone with an account can post a darts event (a tournament, a league night, a fundraiser) for others to find. A listing shows what you type: the event's name, date and time, the place and its address, the games, the entry, a contact, and details. Anyone can read a listing, signed in or not, and it shows the name of the account that posted it. Don't put anything in a listing you don't want public. If people report a listing, we keep who reported it and why.
Dart Mage Plus and payments
During early access nothing in Dart Mage costs money, and we take no payments. After launch, players will buy Dart Mage Plus through the App Store or Google Play, which take the payment and keep the card, and leagues and organizations will pay on our website through a payment processor that handles the card. We'll name those services in this policy before we start using them. We never store card numbers or bank details.
Notifications and email
- Notifications: if you turn them on, we keep the address your phone or browser gives us for sending you notifications ("You're up on Board 3," a reschedule request, an announcement, an invite). They travel through Apple's, Google's, or your browser maker's notification service.
- Email: we email your sign-in codes. If a league or tournament invites you by email, we send that invite to the address they typed, and a short "you joined" note once you're in. A league invite keeps the email address only until the invite is answered or withdrawn.
From your device
- Robot check: when you sign in, Cloudflare's Turnstile checks your browser or phone for signs of a robot. Cloudflare uses what it sees only for that check, not for ads.
- Basic technical details: like any website, our servers see your IP address and browser type when you connect. We use them to keep the service running and secure.
- Camera: used only to scan QR codes. The picture stays on your phone; we never receive it.
- Calendar: "Add to calendar" opens your phone's own calendar with the event filled in. We never read your calendar.
- Location: we don't use your phone's location. Events are found by the state you pick.
- Age range: in the App Store and Google Play apps, where a state's law requires it, the store tells us your age range (for example, 13 to 15, or 18 and over). We use it only to follow that law.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics that follow you across other apps or websites.
When you contact us or report something
If you email us, or use a Report button (which writes an email to us), we keep the email and our reply so we can help you and act on it.
How we use it
- To run Dart Mage: save your games, work out your stats, show you your history on any device, and connect you with friends.
- To run leagues and tournaments for the people who organize them: rosters, schedules, results, standings, brackets, board calls, and payout math.
- To send you what you asked for: sign-in codes, invites, notifications, and announcements from leagues you're in.
- To keep Dart Mage working and safe: fixing problems, stopping robots and abuse, limiting how many codes and numbers someone can try, and acting on reports.
- To improve Dart Mage and to share totals that don't identify anyone, for example "12,000 cricket games were played this week." Totals like these may be shared with partners. They never include your name or anything that points back to you.
Who can see what
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Your name | Your friends, people in the leagues and events you're in, and anyone who types or scans your player number. |
| Your casual games and stats | Only you. Your friends see your short stats card. |
| League results, standings, and leaders | Everyone in that league, and its staff. |
| Tournament brackets and results | Everyone in the event, and its staff. A director can show the bracket on a TV at the venue. |
| Money records | The league's or tournament's staff. You see your own dues. |
| Event listings | Anyone. |
| Your email address | Only you, and us. Leagues and friends never see it, except a league that invited you by that email. |
Leagues and tournaments never see your casual games, your friends list, or your records with other leagues.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only:
- With the people and organizations described above, as part of how Dart Mage works.
- With companies that help us run Dart Mage, who may use it only to do that work for us: Supabase (our database and sign-in), Cloudflare (our websites and the robot check), Resend (email delivery), GitHub (where our nightly backups are kept, locked with a password only we hold), and Apple, Google, Mozilla, and Microsoft (delivering notifications to your phone or browser).
- When the law requires it, such as a valid court order, or to protect someone's safety or rights.
- If Dart Mage is sold or merged, in which case the new owner must keep this policy's promises or give you notice and a chance to delete your account first.
How long we keep it
- Your account, games, and stats: for as long as you have an account, except the personal games and stats from early access, which are deleted on launch day (see Early access above).
- When you delete your account: your sign-in, email, profile, friends, saved players, games, stats, event listings, and notification settings are deleted right away. Your player number is retired and never given to anyone else. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days, as old backups are replaced.
- League and tournament results stay with those events, under the name the league or tournament entered for you, so standings, brackets, and other players' records still add up. Your account is no longer tied to them. The same goes for money records a league kept, and announcements you posted for a league.
- Event listings come down the day after the event. You can delete yours any time.
- Records of sign-in codes, number lookups, and searches (used only to stop guessing) are kept for a day.
- The record of an email we sent you (the address and when) is kept for 7 days, and a notification waiting to be sent for 2 days.
- Emails with us are kept as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices and rights
- See your information, and ask us for a copy of it.
- Fix anything that's wrong. Most of it you can change yourself in the app.
- Delete your account. See Delete your account.
- Control who reaches you: decline or remove friends, block people, and report what shouldn't be there.
- Stop notifications: turn them off in Dart Mage's Settings or on your phone.
To make a request, email [email protected] from the email on your account. We'll answer within 45 days. If we turn down a request, you can reply and ask us to reconsider. If we still say no, we'll explain why, and you can contact your state attorney general. We give these rights to everyone, wherever you live, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
Dart Mage accounts are for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has made an account, email us and we'll delete it. Guest names typed into a game on someone else's phone aren't accounts.
Keeping it safe
Your connection to Dart Mage is encrypted. Our database is encrypted where it's stored, and each piece of data has rules about exactly who can read and change it. Our backups are locked with a password before they leave the database. Only the few people who run Dart Mage can see account data, and only when needed to support you or keep the service running. No system is perfect, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Where your information is stored
Dart Mage stores data in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
